Prague-based Detached Recordings continues to expand upon its enigmatic catalogue of experimental electronica with CVOIA’s debut EP, Southern Coastline. This release blends ambient-electronic drift with cinematic textures, lucidly defined with intermittent breakbeats. Created by the pairing of Adam O'Hara and Tom Parker, this breakout piece offers a vividly retrospective meditation on impermanence and introspection.
Building on the momentum of releases like Moll+’s drone-drenched Signal Chain, Detach Recordings continues to refine its cerebral and forward-thinking repertoire with the debut collaborative EP from Tom Parker, known for his introspective ambient textures as Barefoot, and Adam O’Hara, whose cinematic ambient project The Vision Reels blends post-punk and electronic influences.
Inspired by the slow, quiet life along the southern English coast, this EP feels like a sonic daguerreotype, capturing cinematic freeze-frames through four remixes of the same track. Drawing from early Aphex Twin-inspired trance and experimental bedroom-beat ventures, its audio imagery is mixed with solar-ambient reverie and smoothly layered percussion, while the overall atmosphere feels distinctly English yet universally resonant.
Minimal Collective’s premiere pick is Southern Coastline, the EP’s original mix, where subtle acid flourishes and minimal synthesiser rhythms deepen its melancholic undertones, creating a sonic time capsule—an echo of a memory never fully realised, a fleeting impression of something experienced yet elusive.
