Kat.lysa derives from “catalyst”, a reference to the process of transforming existing material through sound. On Feeling Something, this takes a particularly personal form. The release was developed through sessions with voice and contemporary theater artist Pilar Petropoulos-White, recording their own texts, alongside Kat.lysa playing kalimba and returning to the guitar after fifteen years. She used field recordings, private voice messages, old video audio and recordings that form an intimate archive. Kat.lysa uses this archive and distills six experimental collages of feelings without categorising or rationalising either.

Minimal Collective highlights Back back back then. Repeating strings of guitar continue to deform as Kat.lysa’s voice shifts between words and sound. With few elements to work from, these shifts continually alter the track’s direction.
