Step into the off-kilter trip that is Kinzua’s ‘Purest State Confusion’, set to release on Osàre Editions. The duo’s new EP is a strong follow-up from its 2023 debut, steering down paths of club-centric IDM and blissful ambient sound design in seamless fashion.
Osàre Editions is the brainchild of Elena Colombi, a long-time NTS radio resident and celebrated selector hailing from Italy. Rooted in Colombi’s origin, 'Osàre' translates to 'daring' or 'bold', embodying the label's creative focus. Since 2019 the imprint offers a glimpse into the future of sound by welcoming the experimentation and exploration of juxtaposing soundscapes.
Lucas Brell and Marvin Uhde, no strangers to warping, narcotic sounds, are the minds behind the Kinzua project. The project channels a liquid medley of menacing percussion, pivoting between wildly different tempos and atmospheres. Known also as Qnete, Kinzua recorded the EP in studios across Germany, utilising Rødhåd's staunch taste for aerobic club rhythms in the final mixing stages. The Purest State Confusion lives up to its name, each track evoking frissons of suspense, elation, and repose at once.
Our premiere pick ‘Disappearer' distinctly combines the legendary Amen Break, a popularised sample taken from a 1969 U.S soul record, with ominous bass tones that creep into the track like oil through water. Trippy to its core, heavenly chimes and sci-fi elements scattered throughout guide the mind toward more kaleidoscopic realms.
