Japanese composer Maiko Okimoto, also known as Lemna, presents to us the dark and droning six-track EP ‘Nodes’. Released through the Georgian label KHIDI, ‘Nodes’ beckons the listener deep into intricate and sombre soundscapes.
With storytelling at the forefront of her music, Lemna manages to find balance and beauty within works that walk the line between chaos and order organically.
Her approach hovers between regularity and irregularity and resonates with KHIDI's aim to contribute to cultural awakening and critique aesthetic conventions. Following on from the expressive beats found within 2021's 'Mantis 05,' released through Delsin Records, Lemna brings something equally gloomy and sublime with 'Nodes.'
Minimal Collective presents 'N18,' an imposing track that combines prescient drums with fleeting rhythmic motifs, achieving significant momentum symbiotically. Dark and droning, the spiralling percussion orbits the listener and leads them further into the mist of the forest at dusk.
