The act of fictional world crafting is reserved for only a few, and Astral Industries seems to hone the craft without the need for any words. The London-based record label became a nucleus for deep electronic music across the globe, fusing introspective sonic explorations of the most pivotal musicians with the visual storytelling of Theo Ellsworth on limited-edition vinyl. The next chapter in this sacred discography is written by the Italian producer Pianeti Sintetici. He invites you on the journey of ‘Space Opera’.
An intergalactic journey open to the reception of bio sounds from remote solar systems. Letters from alien worlds that tell of infinite possibilities of life. The soundtrack of synthetic planets that aim at the hyper-evolution of intelligent organisms.
Pianeti Sintetici (‘synthetic planets’ in Italian) is a new conceptual project by Davide Perrone. The Primal Code-affiliated artist draws inspiration from ‘the factories of Magrathea’ from Douglas Adams’ classic space opera ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’. Here, artificial planets are manufactured on commission, building an infinite city within the widespread galaxy.
‘This concept has always fascinated me. I chose the name to frame a hypothetical future of synthetic worlds, told with sound,’ Perrone says. ‘I like to imagine the howls of creatures inhabiting solar systems outside our own. Rarefied atmospheres, alien sequences, and unfamiliar tonal scales. I see Pianeti Sintetici as an open-ended design research project where I can explore these inspirations.’
Minimal Collective’s premiere pick is ‘Part One’, a diffused story that exposes the infinite possibilities of a far-gone galaxy while evoking the ominous presence of otherworldly factory halls.
