London-based auditory landscaper @wreck_id invites us to explore his self-released debut project, titled 'Desire'. Like a conversation with an old friend, the EP transcends traditional communication and explores the randomness of sound and language.
Producer Wreck I.D crafted the EPs two tracks in deepest London. The EP's musical core contains an unapologetic sense of hope. A byproduct of Wreck I.D's journey into production taking seed in the uncertainty of a global pandemic. Both tracks are characterised by lockdown-infused angst which is embodied by a German vocal sample stemming from Wim Wenders’ classic movie ‘Wings of Desire’. By referencing the same vocal, pitched and distorted in various ethereal ways, Wreck I.D shares a melancholic narrative throughout the EP.
Minimal Collective presents the title track ‘Desire’. Here, Wreck I.D lets the track’s dark atmosphere grow into sonic lightness as expansive synthesisers develop, alongside well-crafted percussive elements and masterful vocal manipulations.
