Daniel Jakobsson is the figure behind the aliases Eastern Distributor and Jörmungandr, an integral part of the Australian underground and co-founder of the Eko-System label.  Away from his personal musical endeavours, Jakobsson has hosted the likes of D.Dan and Nadia Struiwith as part of the ‘SHED:’ crew and is a driving force behind Realm Reparia festival held deep in the Australian bush. The An Xileel EP spirals deeper into Jakobsson’s artistic wormhole than ever before, oscillating between the hypnotic rhythms and radiant textures of the darker side of his creative output.

The Pure Space imprint has gone from strength to strength this year, ever relevant, though always consistent in its approach. In 2023, the label has seen outings from label boss, Andy Garvey and remixes from Different Shades, as well as the cutting-edge Proximity III VA, which showcased 19 tracks spanning the complete psychedelic continuum.

Premiere pick, Root Mender, sees Jakobsson expand his Jörmungandr alter ego, contrasting through ominous pads with tight percussion. A stand-out in sets like Andy Garvey b2b DJ Scorpion under the midnight sun at Finland’s Solstice Festival or the final edition of Australia’s Inner Varnika Festival, this track showcases the intricate sound design and leftfield approach of one of Australia’s growing stars.
