‘What happens to you, as your mind drifts away?’ Mikkel Rev’s second EP, UTE007, kicks off with this ominous question that serves as an almost transcendental gateway to four ethereal tracks on the Norwegian label Ute.Rec.
The Oslo-based label is known for its underground, ambient and fast-paced trance sound and Rev’s EP is no exception to that. Ute.Rec started out as an organizer of forest raves but transformed into one of the leading trance labels of Scandinavia. As the scene has been developing and progressing, the label decided to expand with two sub-labels, opening up space for the whole spectrum of trance music: Sinensis as an ambient platform and Translusid as a digital imprint with a focus on the experimental.
UTE007 embodies a melancholic yet exciting journey along the contours of our own thoughts and expectations. Just when you threaten to sink into the ethereal, expressive atmosphere of Dissolve To Evolve, our premiere track A Celestial Body carries you gently from a troubled, bittersweet state of being towards a no-nonsense state of rave.
