Crater-deep dub techno meets shadowy ambient atmospheres on Crateria, the new EP from Mexico City-based producer and audio engineer MirrorLake, released via London imprint Osmura.
MirrorLake, also known as Gerardo Torres, has released works on Qeone, Secuencias Temporales, WVWV, and Syghn Recordings, gradually shaping a meditative yet body-moving sonic identity. On Crateria, he leans deeper into the oscillating spaces between dancefloor functionality and contemplative stillness.
The EP’s five tracks, Fung, Crateria, Pulsos, Hubba, and Ninj4, form a fluid ecosystem of dubby rhythms, restrained percussion, and ambient washes. MirrorLake’s introspective voltage seeps into Osmura’s shadowy terrain, not only echoing the label’s deep-listening ethos but also tunnelling it further inward.
Minimal Collective’s premiere track, Ninj4, expands on MirrorLake’s immersive palette, where minimalist textures spiral through dubbed-out grooves and flickers of sci-fi ambience. Anchored in repetition but rich in subtle modulation, the track explores introspection and forward motion in equal measure, channelling the artist's deep roots in dub techno and ambient, as well as his everyday life behind mixing consoles.
