Tresor’s latest release presents us ‘yet’, a thirteen-track compilation bending genres as well as musical convention. This multifaceted release pulls forward the record label’s explorative nature with polish and finesse.
Navigating across transient and constantly evolving sonic landscapes, this VA of Berlin-based, infamous record label Tresor resists easy definition or categorisation. From digital hardcore and futuristic hip-hop to crossroads of hyperpop, trance, and sci-fi atmospherics, every track borrows from the familiar yet not one follows the expected path. At the core is a mercurial experimentation perfectly analogous to its title; thirteen artists making music that hints at things yet to come, yet to stop, yet to take place.
Making it to our premiere pick is Budapest-based DJ, producer, and designer Nit. A musical experimentalist at heart, her compositions always widen the genre limits. With her closing track ‘Cirrus Virga’, she seamlessly blends ethereal ambient textures with deep, dreamy percussions. Offering a last, contemplative pitstop on this compilation journey, she finally rounds off the VA with whispers of sonic cloud-like tendrils that float above the body.
