Sharing their Italian origin, Living Code and B.BBY currently operate from different countries while co-running Higher. This geographical split has resulted in listening sessions and club events in Barcelona and Berlin, with programming centering exclusively on unreleased works by artists. It was only a matter of time before these activities translated into a label, involving Berlin-based artist xfira and revealing a more downtempo live project with instrumental elements.

22° Halo is Higher’s next step in its development as a label. The title refers to the sun halo or moon ring, a natural phenomenon of refracted light in the atmosphere caused by millions of ice crystals. Mimicking this idea, the release counts ten tracks that move between ambient, free tekno and dubstep influences. Through both its diversity in function and its similarity in atmosphere, 22° Halo’s sequence makes one full circle.

As the second tale in its sequence, Italian-Swedish producer and Neural Hypnosis curator Philip Kylberg contributes Tanit. This week’s pick consists of drums and drones, heaviness at heart, spacious in form.
