Paul Rêve draws from his artistic approach, blending human, nature, and new media art, to create a teeming ecosystem in his latest project released on Virtual Forest. Sprites and cryptids dance to low-end meditation throughout ‘Avatars of Lingmus,’ an EP that merges enigmatic electronics with ecological sensibility.
French imprint Virtual Forest, which hosts Rêve’s latest work, draws deeply from the music continuum for inspiration. The label takes cues from soundsystem culture, braindance, and recent experiments in ambience to distill a sound fitting for the thriving French techno scene.
Rêve’s debut on the label breathes a biological edge through these well-defined influences. Five tracks build an audible terrarium through tactile soundscapes and psychedelic flourishes, while Polygonia’s remix recasts Ballad of Johannes with a club-ready edge.
Minimal Collective’s pick, ‘Avalla’ch,’ is a half-time dream sequence that meanders through Rêve’s trademark ecological soundscapes. A track that feels as natural on the dancefloor as it does on the forest ground.
