Emerging from the synergetic labyrinth of Seoul-based Frenchman Pyramid of Knowledge and Ukraine’s Shjva, I expected that presents a cutting-edge take on artificial dimensions of sound. Cycling through realms of deep techno, percussion-rich IDM, and ambient techno, the pair provide a soundtrack for the smoked-out dance floors of today and years to come.
Pyramid of Knowledge, also known as K.O.P. 32, is an enigmatic figure operating from Seoul, weaving deep techno, Frenchcore, acid, and tribal elements into his craft. Unrestricted by genre, his sound ventures freely, fusing styles and prolifically crafting states of auditory hypnosis. Teaming up with the equally exceptional Shjva, who brings her own take on progressive psychedelia, the pair find a home on the tenth release of the Munich-based label Terra Magic Rec.
Founded by Tom Sprenger and Mirko Hecktor, Terra Magic Rec. platforms a varied range of underground music; from heavy, club-focused tracks to slowed-down trips and rough mind explorations. With the label bosses operating under the Hektisch Sprengen DJs moniker - translating to ‘blowing up things in a hectic manner’ - the imprint sets out to showcase sounds from all corners of the globe that tie into a unified and at times unruly ethos.
Premiere pick, Life of Satchidanand, teams with the percussive energy of tekno that winds towards the smoother, deeper chords and tones that shape the sound of Pyramid of Knowledge. We eagerly await the next set of hypnosis to come from the Seoul studio which is no doubt only around the bend.
