Zambezi Moon promises a brooding exploration into the regions of psytrance, DnB and trance on his latest self-released offering ‘Hearth’. Utilising his passion for vintage hardware, the Naarm-based artist has repurposed and reimagined these classic instruments to create images of water and deep space, which are the foundations of the EP.
Naarm’s Zambezi Moon returns with the mesmerising ‘Hearth’ EP, a follow-up to his ‘Central World’ release in 2023. Submerged in the tradition of 90s analogue hardware, Zambezi Moon’s creative sanctuary lies within his home studio, where he crafted three tracks across a two-month period for this latest odyssey.
The result of this alchemy is an EP that ventures into the shadowy sphere of DnB, trance and psytrance, plunging listeners into a domain of sonorous bass, interstellar imagery and aquatic sonic elements. Between these sound embodiments, Zambezi Moon is on the brink of a transformation as he prepares for more live productions and performances in 2024, promising a year of exploration and innovation.
Our premiere pick ‘Blade’ lives up to this promise. Undulating basslines and flittering high-end notes rise and fall across the seven-minute run time, resulting in a twilight where time moves both with velocity and patience.
