To celebrate a decade of SCOPÁVIK, the Korean label has compiled a set of robust and rigorous sounds destined for the tool-kit of many techno purists. Obsidian Tide ricochets between driving dancefloor workouts and acid-laden grooves, leaving a lasting impression and desire to move.
Anthony Linell, formerly known as Abdulla Rashim and often operating under aliases Lundin Oil and Ulwhenar, charts an uncompromising path toward eerie-techno atmospheres and experimental electronica. In 2013, he co-founded Northern Electronics, a Stockholm-based label that explores the leftfield fringes of techno and emotive sound design. Joined by Northern Electronics alumni in Evigt Mörker and label boss Scøpe, Linnel delivers a wisping trip on the compilation’s penultimate track.
Hailing from Seoul, SCOPÁVIK is a driving force that explores modern techno's ever-shifting textures and rhythms. Over the past decade, the imprint has flowed seamlessly through time, embracing change and thriving on perpetual momentum.
Minimal Collective’s premiere pick, Transcendence of Spatial Boundaries, lives up to its name as Linell’s cyclic approach to techno makes time stand still. With propulsive repetition at its core, Stockholm’s sound architect layers galloping low-end grooves with grainy and distorted drums to masterful effect.
