The distinctive Artefakt duo continues their collaboration with renowned Semantica Records by revealing the upcoming mini-LP 'Floodplain'. This collection of 6 tracks weaves a wide auditory landscape, utilizing mountainous rhythms and ever-evolving synth patterns contrasted with timid feedback and twinkling piano recordings.
The essence of Artefakt, crafted by Nick Lapien and Robin Koek, stems from their shared love for wistful and mesmeric voodoo sounds. The duo stands for modern-day electronic hypnotism transpiring through the sounds of nature. Their sonic creations are contemplative and adorned with profound, intricate layers. Extended track durations allow Artefakt to meticulously tweak nuances of sound and mood, resulting in a cerebral and harmonious ambiences that absorb and engage.
As a live act, Lapien and Koek are well known for their long, spellbinding narratives crafted by analogue hardware. A tangible and organic approach to music design is further expanded in their upcoming work ‘Floodplain’, posing a club-ready iteration to their more introspective work ‘Days Bygone’.
On the title and closing track ‘Floodplain’, Artefakt evokes a sense of longing with gentle notes of a delayed piano recording. The melody unfolds with a contemplative air, inviting the listener on a journey of quiet reflection. As gentle percussions and accented low ends shimmer through the rain-soaked landscape, a feeling of melancholy settles in, capturing the essence of a mood that is both introspective and bittersweet.
