Parisian forerunner Solma traverses mist-laden landscapes with his new album The Consciousness Of Plants on Organic Signs. The debut full-length album fuses drum and bass, halftime, and tribe cuts with the contemporary take on psychedelic synthesis popularised by a new generation of the French underground.
Headed up by Jan Swam and Antonio, Organic Signs is best described as a hybrid creative hub operating out of Spain. Drawing on moments of musical connection, the platform has a range of creative outputs that includes a string of records and an intimate festival on the outskirts of Madrid - Refractor. For the 2025 edition, Solma joins the lineup alongside label bosses, Australian bush doofer Tangela, Rotterdam’s Nelly, and live performances from Trois-Quarts Taxi System and Hysteria Temple Foundation, among others.
Solma continues to develop the sound of the modern French underground with Consciousness Of Plants. Together with artists like A Strange Wedding and Vel, he has had a wide influence on the push toward tightly wound grooves and the most gnarly influences of psy.
Premiere pick Clay bridges the gap between the album’s deeper, ambient opening and the riveting, tribal workouts that later unfold. Scattered across the stereo field, percussive fragments march to surface, gradually winding back into itself ready for the start of a new chapter.
