LDS’s power of 2 is a system in motion, a meticulously coded network of algorithmic techno, atmospheric drone, and industrial grit. Released through Berlin’s Tresor label, the album translates LDS’ fascination with probability-driven music into a sonic architecture that feels both calculated and alive.
Luca Daniel Schwarz, aka LDS, approaches techno like a systems architect. Based in Stuttgart, he crafts precise, high-velocity rhythms using self-coded, -based tools. His upcoming album, power of 2, is a refined evolution of his algorithmic sound—tight, propulsive, and charged with controlled unpredictability.
Where a drummer expresses immediacy, LDS finds expression in the architecture of chance: sequencing outcomes, shaping pathways, and letting the machine co-compose.
This approach finds a fitting home on Berlin’s influential Tresor, a label long dedicated to uncompromising, future-facing electronic music. From the robotic voice fragments and piercing synths of zipp prompt to the dense dub textures of diff, blockmix, each element feels both autonomous and interconnected, reflecting the calculated, matrixial unpredictability of plate-spinning.
Minimal Collective spotlights the penultimate track, pow2, Epilog, where LDS crafts a set of discordant radio frequencies, intertwining surrounding industrial waves with voice-intensive drone elements. The electronic walls of sound steadily build, creating an intense, immersive atmosphere that pulses with energy and tension before concluding the record’s sonic core of DIY soundscaping.
