Marco Shuttle traverses deep into the labyrinthine heart of the rainforest in Astral Industries’ latest extended listening journey. Channelling the spirit of the Amazon, the two extended tracks of Sonidos y Modulaciones de la Selva unfold as an untamed ecosystem, with ghostly birdsongs echoing across brooding, minimalist instrumentation.
While best known for his dancefloor-oriented work, Italian sound artist Marco Shuttle’s releases are characterised as much by their precise sound design and evocative soundscapes as their club-ready inertia. Across the two tracks of Sonidos y Modulaciones de la Selva, Shuttle deepens his impressionistic approach, offering a heartfelt nod to Colombia's otherworldly nature.
More than a tribute, this release is a personal sonic diary, shaped by Shuttle’s experiences in the Amazon, Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, and Chocó. These landscapes have long inspired his music, visuals, and spirit. Many field recordings were captured firsthand, drawn from days immersed in the rainforest’s pulse and now woven into the two-part release.
Astral Industries prides itself on creating such a fertile space for experimentation, delivering extended projects of ambient, drone, noise, and everything in between, tied together with rich, conceptual narratives to fit each project. For Shuttle, the label serves as the ideal canvas to convey the ineffable: the feeling of being engulfed by the jungle’s vastness, the power of its presence, and the hypnotic interplay between its beauty and the mystery that lingers beneath.
Minimal Collective has selected Part One as its premiere track, a creeping drift through a lush biome, shrouded in unease and intrigue in equal measure.
