Bioactive tones create a spaced-out ecosphere on the latest EP ‘Bioma’, by cosmologist-turned-producer Davide Perrone. Under his Pianeti Sintetici alias, Perrone conjures synthetic worlds and offers a cosmic safari on his latest release on Polygonia’s QEONE imprint.
Inspired by the cult space opera The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Pianeti Sintetici (‘synthetic planets‘ in Italian) aims to evoke the legendary factories of Magrathea. In the series, these are the advanced, secretive facilities where custom-made planets and artificial worlds are crafted on demand. Through this project, the Italian producer who is an astroparticle physicist by trade, reinvigorates his well-honed craft with an intergalactic edge.
The four works presented on ‘Bioma’, the tenth release on the Munich-based QEONE label, stay true to this mission. Each track lays out a unique rhythmic landscape, while the whole EP remains shrouded in a fog akin to a tropical rainforest or virulent bog.
Dry Marsh, Minimal Collective’s pick, is a woozy tech house stepper that submerges a rolling rhythm in hallucinogenic flourishes. The result is a six-minute excursion that compels the listener through Perrone’s cosmic biome.
