Electronic zaps and thumping kicks pulse through ‘Exercise in Tragedy,’ Yogg’s latest EP and the inaugural release from his Polarized Future label. By targeting granular and layered sound design, the new label decomposes synth work and percussion to craft obscure soundscapes.
Yogg’s fascination with punchy techno was shaped by early encounters with the Antwerp club scene. His label, Polarized Future, is a response to these influences, merging his recent interest in high-tempo rhythms, psychedelic ambience, and a move away from traditional four-to-the-floor beats.
The maiden EP ‘Exercise in Tragedy’ embodies this adventurous spirit. Across the four tracks, the Belgian producer presents textural experiments, with each providing a high-energy halftime exploration of Yogg’s signature densely layered sound design.
Minimal Collective’s pick, ‘Keep the Sheep', puts forward perhaps the clearest exemplar of this sonic manifesto. Its off-kilter kick drums establish a sturdy foundation, setting the stage for an electrifying barrage of high-voltage flourishes that intensify and evolve seamlessly throughout the track.
